چکیده

Abstract Turbulent flames with compositionally inhomogeneous mixtures are common in many combustion systems. jet a circular nozzle burner were used earlier to study the impact of mixtures, and these studies showed that radius affects flame stability. Accordingly, planar turbulent created concentric flow slot (CFSB) avoid this effect present study. The stability characteristics, mixing field structure, front structure measured, correlations between investigated. mixture fraction was measured non-reacting jets at exit using highly resolved Rayleigh scattering technique, some selected high-speed Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF) OH technique. data show strong range fluctuations. stabilized within environment fluctuation close flammability limits. is also illustrated discussed regime diagram scatter different cases consistent classified regimes. Lean current burner. topology varies consistently from thin, small curvature low level turbulence higher equivalence ratio more wrinkled, larger curvature, but thicker lower ratio.

Characteristics of Turbulent Nonpremixed Jet-flames and Jet-flames in Crossflow in Normal- and Low-gravity

It is well known that buoyancy has a major influence on the flow structure of turbulent nonpremixed jet flames. For example, previous studies have shown that transitional and turbulent jet flames exhibit flame lengths that are as much as a factor of two longer in microgravity than in normal gravity. The objective of this study is to extend these previous studies by investigating both mean and f...

Turbulent characteristics in flow subjected to bed suction and jet injection as a pier-scour countermeasure

The effect of a combined system of the bed suction and jet injection as a pier-scour countermeasure on the turbulent flow field is studied in a laboratory flume using an Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV). The three components of the velocities in the vertical symmetry plane in the equilibrium scour hole in front and rear of the pier under 3-jet injections and bed suction rate Qs/Q0 = 2%located...

LES modeling for lifted turbulent jet flames

The LES method is an attractive approach for the simulation of turbulent jet flames. In this method, the effects of large scale structures controlling the mixing process are resolved while small-scale effects such as the leading-edge flames involved in the flame base dynamics are accounted for by the subgrid-scale models. The LES approach is examined in this study with a particular emphasis on ...
